Checked on 2 September 2026 against Book Six of the Civil Code and Supreme Court materials.
- the general acceptance period is six months
- a special starting-point rule may apply to certain deaths registered late during martial law
- lack of knowledge of the death alone will usually not establish a valid reason for delay without objective obstacles
- where a substantive rights dispute exists, merely challenging a notary’s refusal may be the wrong remedy
- heirs answer for the deceased’s debts only within the value of inherited property
