Family law

Family law support in Ukraine

We help separate the legal questions from the personal conflict, review the available documents and map the next steps under Ukrainian law.

Matters we can assess

  • divorce
  • parenting and child-related arrangements or disputes
  • family maintenance issues
  • division of property
  • drafting and reviewing family-law documents

When to seek advice promptly

  • you have received a claim or court notice
  • a procedural deadline is approaching
  • you are about to sign an agreement
  • documents or access to relevant information may be lost

Possible routes

Articles 106 and 109–112 of the Family Code provide different routes. Child, maintenance and property issues are assessed separately.

  • civil registry procedure where the statutory conditions are met
  • joint court application by spouses who have children
  • a claim by one spouse
  • a separate agreement or court process for related issues
  • representation within the agreed scope

What the work may include

  • reviewing the timeline and documents
  • identifying evidence needs
  • drafting documents
  • authorised communications with other parties
  • status reporting

What we need from you

  • a concise chronology
  • names of connected persons for the conflict check
  • court and deadline information
  • documents only after the conflict check and through an agreed channel

Fees

  • Fees are determined after the task and scope have been defined.
  • The agreed fee and any external costs are recorded before work begins.

Stages

  • conflict check

  • the former restriction on a divorce claim during pregnancy and the first year after birth was removed from article 110 in 2024
  • reconciliation measures do not apply where one spouse committed domestic violence
  • venue and remote participation depend on the procedural facts

Frequently asked questions

How does an engagement begin?

We begin with a short description and a conflict-of-interest check. The task, scope, fees and engagement terms are agreed afterwards. Sending a form does not, by itself, create a lawyer-client relationship.

Can you give an exact timeline?

Once the matter has been reviewed, a preparation timeline may be estimated. A court or authority controls its own timetable, which cannot be guaranteed.

Does divorce resolve child and property issues?

Not automatically. Child arrangements, maintenance and property division have separate legal and evidential requirements.
